Passover Earth Seder: Free Our Planet from Fossil Fuels

As part of a national multi-faith “Exodus Alliance” this Passover, Jews and allies will gather outside the branches and offices of the banks and asset managers that exacerbate the climate crisis by investing their money in Fossil Fuel Pharaohs: oil, gas, and coal companies. In Ann Arbor, this action is spearheaded by Jewish Youth Climate Movement, Dayenu, Hazon, MI Interfaith Power and Light, The Shalom Center, local congregations, and others. Rooting ourselves in sacred action and moral inspiration, we will conduct a short, peaceful symbolic Earth Seder, publicly proclaiming today’s fossil-fueled plagues and lifting up matzah as a symbol of urgency, calling on these financial institutions to “move their dough.”

We are calling on Chase bank to divest from all fossil fuels and invest in renewable energies. Representatives of our group will deliver a letter to the CEO of Chase through employees of the local bank branch. Join us on Wednesday April 20 at 3pm at the Chase bank on Main St (100 S Main St, Ann Arbor, MI 48104) as we call for freedom from fossil fuel Pharaohs this Passover!
